What's covered?

Engineering A Sustainable World camp is designed to explore the environment around us to discover where our energy comes from and how we impact the Earth.  We will work together to answer questions about energy needs versus global responsibility.  Campers will take part in testing alternative energy sources, harnessing the sun’s power to cook their own food, and testing energy efficient products.  Participants will have a chance to tour a solar powered house, see prototype hybrid cars, and even walk through Penn State’s own nuclear reactor!  We hope to investigate materials science, biofuels, and perhaps some nanotechnology. We will finish the week by creating public service announcements on what we have learned and how we can help reduce our energy use at home.   Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about where our energy comes from and how we all can play a part in helping to “save” energy.

Campers are grouped according to age.

  • Snacks and drinks will be provided each day during activity breaks.
