Steps to Register

  1. Read and decide which camp(s) you will register your child(ren) for.
  2. Determine if your child(ren) will be attending camp as a DAY or RESIDENTIAL camper.
  3. Determine if you will be applying for financial aid.
  4. Click on any REGISTER NOW tab (to the left, under Penn State Science) to go to the CVENT registration page.
  5. Complete registration information pages. (Note: If you are applying for financial aid, submit the information and materials as instructed. No payment should be made until you receive an email notifying you about a reward status).

  6. Submit payment and wait for confirmation email.

A new Eberly College of Science guideline for Science-U camps authorizes only students attending school in the United States to register for camps. As in previous years, parents/guardians are required to identify their child's school/school district during registration. Registrations that do not identify a U.S. school or school district will not be accepted.

CVENT Registration System

Science-U summer camp registration is controlled by CVENT, a secure external website linked to this page. Once you are ready to register for a particular camp, click on any of the REGISTER NOW tabs, and you will be taken to CVENT to register. Note: CVENT has a time-out function after 20 minutes of no 'clicking/mouse' activity.

Registration Deadline

Open camp spots will close two weeks prior to the start of that camp

Scholarships - Applications due Jan 10th, 2019

There are two types of scholarships available to Science-U campers:

  1. The AAUW State College Branch 2019 Merit-Based STEM Scholarships for Girls in Centre County (Grades 6-12):
  2. The Science Leadership Camp Scholarship -

Financial Aid

Financial aid for Science-U camps is awarded based on available funds and the total number of applications. Awards will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our financial aid committee begins to meet regularly in mid-late February to make awards and continues to make awards until funds are exhausted.  Because of limited funds, a child can receive financial aid for only one camp each summer.  However, more than one child in a family may receive a financial aid award each summer.
If you are applying for financial aid, you are not required to submit payment at the time of registration.   The application process is as follows:
  1. Once registration opens on February 5th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., go to and click on the “Register Now” icon on the left side of the page.  Register your child on-line for his/her chosen camps and select the “Check” option during checkout. Camp spots fill quickly so plan to register as early as possible!
  2. Answer the five questions that appear on the registration form once the “Financial Aid” option is selected: (1) total household annual income, (2) total number of family members in household, (3) whether the child qualifies for free or reduced school lunches (4) the amount of financial support received by each child, and (5) an electronic signature. (Note: Since we are not collecting tax returns or paycheck stubs, you will be held under penalty of law to supply information that is true and accurate.)
  3. Submit the following WITHIN TWO BUSINESS WEEKS of your registration date:
  • A supporting letter from the parent/guardian that describes how attending the camp will enhance their child’s summer experience
  • A 100-word handwritten essay, by each child applying, on this topic: "Why I want to go to a Penn State Science camp this summer." No typed or computer-produced essays will be accepted. If your child(ren) is/are too young to write an essay, words and/or drawings will be acceptable. Each child's essay must be mailed or faxed to the Science-U Office
Mail, email or fax letters to:

      Fax: 814-865-0096
*NOTE - One of the criteria we consider when distributing financial aid is the total number of camps a family is registered for and would be paying for before financial aid. If a family registers for a certain number of camps, receives financial aid, and then cancels from several camps, their total financial aid amount may be reduced since their overall financial burden is reduced as well.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations made 15 days prior to the first day of camp will result in a refund minus a $50 administrative fee per camp.  The $50 administrative fee will be charged for each canceled camp regardless of the participant’s (or his/her siblings) enrollment in other Science-U camps.  Refund requests made within 15 days of the start of camp will not be honored.  The participant and/or sponsoring organization will be responsible for the entire fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does Cvent reserve my camp spot(s) while I am filling out the online registration form?

No. Unfortunately, Cvent is unable to reserve your spots until you completely finish the registration process. Even if a camp has spots available when you start registration, the system will put you on the wait list once you finish registration if others have completed registration and taken the final camp spots before you. If this happens and you are put on the wait list, we will contact you if a spot becomes available.

2. If I am added to a wait list for a camp, should I still pay for Extended Care?

No, if you do not get into your preferred camps, simply select the “Pay by check” option on the Payment screen. This will allow your child to stay on the Extended Care roster in case they get in to the camp. If your child gets off the camp waitlist, we will invoice you for both the camp and Extended Care at the same time. If you do pay for Extended Care by credit card, we will refund your payment if your child does not get off the waitlist for that week’s camp.

3. Will I need to enter my contact information for each child I am registering?

Yes, Cvent does not save information from previous registrations. Begin by registering one child and at the end of the first registration form you will be able to click an “Add Additional Child” button if you need to register more children.

  • For each child you are registering, please make sure to click the “Add to Agenda” button next to each camp you are registering them for! If you get to the end of the registration and do not see camps on your agenda, you are not signed up for any camps and you will need to return to the previous screen to make your selections. If you have already confirmed your registration and do not see any camps listed on your confirmation, call the Science Outreach Office at (814) 865-0083 and we will assist you. There is a chance that your preferred camp could fill in the meantime and we would then have to add you to the wait list for that camp.
  • If you have already created a registration (even if incomplete), our registration system will not accept new registrations under the same email address. Please be aware of this and try to register all children and select all your preferred camps in one registration!  If you do forget to register more than one child or if you missed signing up for an additional camp on your original registration, please email our office at or call (814)865-0083.
  • Please note that there are 3 options for Extended Care each week: AM only ($30), PM only ($30) and both AM&PM ($50).  These will each appear as separate options that you can "Add to Your Agenda" in the registration form. Please be aware that because AM Extended Care starts on Tuesday mornings each week it is listed below the camp offerings and other Extended Care options for that week since Cvent lists options based on start date. If you need to register for Extended Care, please make sure to pick the correct option (AM, PM or the combined AM&PM option) for the applicable week(s)!
