The Penn State Science Leadership camp prepares participants for a successful future in scientific careers.  This camp provides an integrated approach to leadership for young men and women interested in advancing academically and while activating change in scientific environments. The success and growth of both this camp and the campers who attend it is attributable to the intense reflective nature of the program.  Unique to the program is the integration of the arts (literature, visual arts, music, etc.) and field challenges (group projects, lab tours, competitions, and lab work) with the theory and practice of innovative and creative thinking. Come join us at Penn State University Park for an experience you can take with you through high school, college, and beyond!

Lunch and Snacks

    Activity breaks will be taken each day to allow kids to eat their peanut free snacks that they brought from home.
    Campers will walk to Pollock Dining Commons each day for lunch

Camp fees and registration

Register online before midnight Feb. 28, 2017

Day or Resident Option

Day option:

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Please arrive between 8:50 pm and 9:00 am. Camp ends promptly at 5:00 pm.  An evening faculty/staff/camper dinner mixer will be scheduled as well as occasional evening group work sessions.

Day campers are welcome to join the residential campers for breakfast or stay for dinner in the dining halls (when there is an evening work session).

Resident option:

Campers in grades 10-12 can choose to stay at Penn State from Sunday evening (check-in at 4 pm and opening ceremony at 7:00 pm) until Friday afternoon (camp ends promptly at 4:00 pm). Resident campers stay in University Residence Halls (Porter Hall, check-in at Pollock Commons). An evening faculty/staff/student dinner mixer along with occasional evening group work sessions will be scheduled.  Evening mentors supervise activities and outings.

Residential activities will include:


  • Monday and Wednesday supervised enrichment and team building activities.

  • Tuesday - faculty/staff/camper mixer with dinner and science challenges.

  • Thursday - Final presentation group work.


Extended Care

Extended care is not offered with this camp.
