When is it?

22 June 2015 to 26 June 2015

Who can attend?

Students entering grades 9-12.

What's covered?

Join the experts at Penn State to examine the causes and consequences of an infectious disease outbreak! How do epidemics start and how can they be stopped, if at all? How do vaccines and health campaigns work? Campers will learn about specific pathogens (Ebola, malaria, zombie-ant fungus!) and how they spread between human, animal, and plant hosts. Additionally, campers will gain insight into how personal behavior can increase or decrease the chances of getting sick and they will get hands-on experience with the fascinating disease research currently happening at Penn State!

Lunch and Snacks

  • Activity breaks will be taken each day to allow kids to eat their peanut free snacks that they brought from home.
  • Campers will eat lunch each day in one of the University dining commons.
